PUNE: Keeping in mind the goal of helping medical tourism grow in its native city, made it possible for two Omani citizens to visit Pune and undergo surgery.
Mr Khamees Al Saadi and Mr Ali Al Shakri, both of whom hail from the coastal city of Al Suwayk in north-eastern Oman, underwent successful operations for separate ailments in October and November 2018 respectively.
Mr Al Saadi, in his fifties, was treated by Dr Kanhaiya Jeswani, a cardiologist at Inlaks-Budhrani Hospital in Koregaon Park. The Omani patient was accompanied by a family relative during his stay in the hospital as well as during his rehabilitation process. He returned to his home country earlier this month, after a suitable period for rehabilitation.
Speaking to ibexmedworld.com after his successful surgery, Mr Al Saadi expressed total satisfaction with the entire experience. He was effusive in his praise for both the medical situation and the manner in which the process was arranged.
He said in his native Arabic: “I was in need of some attention for a heart-related issue. However, every doctor I consulted earlier only suggested that I undergo expensive operations.
“On becoming aware of ibexmedworld.com and the possibility of a relevant and less expensive treatment in Pune, I came here. According to Dr Jeswani, I only needed an angioplasty. Once that process was done, I was relieved.”
Dr Jeswani, meanwhile, was glad to have such an opportunity to bolster his hospital’s presence abroad. He lauded ibexmedworld.com’s initiative in this venture and opined that Inlaks-Budhrani would welcome any future development in this issue.
Meanwhile, Mr Al Shakri, the second Omani patient, was treated for a hip-related ailment at the ONP Tulip Hospital in Shivajinagar. Here, he was attended to by Dr Rajesh Parasnis, an orthopaedic surgeon.
Mr Al Shakri, who is in his forties, was also thoroughly pleased with his overall experience. Speaking in his native language, he told ibexmedworld.com: “While there were minor teething issues when I first arrived, things improved immediately when I made these issues known to both the hospital and the ibexmedworld.comrepresentative. In fact, I was literally treated as an honoured guest.”
He was also accompanied by a family representative during his stay here and was yet to return to Oman at the time this article was being written.
Mr Fahim Shaikh, director, ibexmedworld.com, said: “We at our medinfo web portal are delighted with the response from both the patients as well as the hospital authorities where the Omani citizens were treated.”
He added: “We will treat this initial success as a foothold to secure more medical tourists from Oman, the Gulf and many more destinations for medical institutions in our city and our nation.”"
